Start every contract by reading the debt objective, choosing a short route, collecting value during daylight, and returning before the sunset hunt removes your margin.

What happens during a contract?

Phase	Player goal
Enter	Read the current objective and mark the return direction
Collect	Take nearby resources and note their displayed value
Retreat	Stop adding branches as sunset approaches
Extract	Return with the confirmed haul and wait for the result to save

How should a new player choose a route?

Use a short out-and-back path with one visible landmark. Add distance only after the current route is familiar; a procedural map can change the next time you join.

Is the monster the contract objective?

No. The public game description centers on earning money and paying debt. It does not list defeating the monster as a required win condition.
